We specialize in fitting all contact lenses to suit your needs. Our most popular contact lenses, scleral lenses, can be customized to all eyes. Specialty contact lenses are fit by trained experts and requires great skill and knowledge. Rest assured that the providers and staff at The Contact Lens Institute of Gwinnett are here address all of your visual needs.
Scleral lenses are uniquely customized to meet an individual’s ocular needs. These lenses range in size from approximately 14.0mm to 24mm and completely vault the front ocular surface, the cornea. Scleral lenses are bowl shaped in order to allow saline to rest between the cornea and the back surface of the lens. These contact lenses rest on the sclera, the white part of the eye. Scleral lenses are very comfortable and are indicated for patients with dry eye and corneal disease, irregular astigmatism, high refractive error, and many other conditions. Scleral contact lenses are also a great option for those who have discomfort with traditional soft contact lenses and are seeking an alternative contact lens for their visual needs.
A hybrid contact lens is a combination of a rigid gas permeable lens and a soft lens. These contact lenses are designed for people who desire more comfort and stability in a contact lens, but may not be a good candidate for corneal rigid gas permeable lenses or traditional soft contact lenses.
We use SynergEyes UltraHealth and Duette HD to fit our patients. These hybrid contact lenses allow for crystal clear vision and all day comfort. SynergEyes hybrid lenses can be used by most patients including presbyopia, myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), regular and irregular astigmatism, as well those with various corneal diseases and scars.
Ortho-K is a non-surgical procedure that allows an individual to eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. These overnight contact lenses reversibly alter the curvature of the front surface of the eye, the cornea. Ortho-K contact lenses are FDA approved and safe for sleeping in at night. These lenses are also used to reduce the progression of myopia
(nearsightedness) and has shown an average of ~50% efficacy in many studies. In order to start your journey to eliminating glasses, your doctor will determine if you are a good candidate. With a few tests and a comprehensive eye exam, you could be on your way to great vision
with no corrective lenses.
Is Ortho-K Best For You?
Increased myopia increases your risks of retinal detachment, glaucoma and macular degeneration. Myopia progression can be reduced by up to 60%. As your child grows in size,
their eye may also grow longer which results in a stronger prescription. Our myopia management program is designed for each patient’s needs. Currently, we offer 3 treatments that are listed below.
